Enders Game and the Wizard of Oz - The Great Battle

In both Enders Game and The Wizard of Oz, the protagonists Ender and Dorothy, went into the final battle of their journey not truly knowing what they were doing. In both cases for them, the great battle was a lot easier than they expected. For Ender, he was kept hidden from the fact that the ‘simulated’ game he was playing was actually the true enemy. When Ender completely the final assessment, he was told that he just killed his enemy’s home planet. A similar situation occurred with Dorothy. After being captured by the Wicked Witch, Dorothy’s last attempt of escaping was to simply throw a bucket of water onto the witch, not know that water was her weakness. And just like that the Wicked Witch, who was feared by many, merely melted away and disappeared from existence. Great Battle scenes don’t always have to be the great.
